Brian Hughes always showed an interest in music and was given his first guitar when aged 17. In 1998, he recorded his first demo and the impressive result convinced him to record further songs. Recruiting some fine musicians to assist, his 1999 debut album, DAYS GONE DOWN was released. The reaction to this album was incredible and, due to demand, he showcased it at a one-off gig at The Renfrew Ferry in 2001.
The show was a huge success but other commitments prevented any further shows at that time.In 2002 Brian hooked up with Ian Donaldson and Stuart Robertson and agreed to record the next album at their Maryhill Mansions Studio in Glasgow. This resulted in the WINDMILLS album being released in 2003 to critical acclaim. The album attracted the attention of major American publishing house ATLANTA MUSIC GROUP, Georgia, who offered to pitch it to major Nashville Labels, Sony, MCA, etc.
In 2004, Brian assembled a LoneSharks line-up of Jimmy Murray, Les Barratt, Robert Jones and Giles Tingey to play a showcase charity concert in aid of the Children's Hospice Association Scotland (www.chas.org.uk). Playing songs from both albums, the show at Denny Civic Theatre in Dumbarton - was a sell out success, raising £2000 for the charity. The evening was supported by Glasgow-based country radio station 3c Continuous Cool Country (www.3cdigital.com) and station manager Pat Geary, who has shown tremendous support for Brian's music, introduced the band on stage. 2005 has seen Brian take the current Lonesharks line up of Greg Porterfield (drums), Ian Newport (bass), Robert Jones (lead guitar) and Graham Cordiner (keyboards) on the road playing venues throughout the United Kingdom.
With their friends, Evangeline, they have formed a musical and social partnership that has brought about Double Trouble, a fusion of Scotland°s top two bands playing original country music. Having played Glasgow's Renfrew Ferry and Aberdeen's The Lemon Tree, both bands are delighted to bring the show to Queens Hall, Dunoon on Friday 18 November.
This is Brian°s first time playing the Dunoon Festival and he and the band are looking forward to meeting both new and old friends, so come on up and say howdy - they don't bite! well not all of them!
The band can be booked by calling Brian on 07748 366834 or through their website at www.brianhughesmusic.com
